Instructional Activities Update

We wanted to take a moment this morning to share that additional optional academic activities for students in all grade have been added for the week of March 30th.  These activities are meant to reinforce and maintain previously taught skills.  As we prepare to begin new instruction (that will be required) I would like to encourage everyone to continue working on these optional activities to help stay in the routine of school.  If your child/children have not been using these activities, I would encourage you to begin having them start working on these activities to help begin the transition back into the routine of school work. All of the activities can be accessed by visiting https://sites.google.com/fleetwoodasd.org/fasd/home.

Outside Organizations - Use of School Facilities

To ensure the safety of our students and community, beginning on Monday, March 16th, all after-school building events and use of our facilities by outside members will be canceled or, if applicable, postponed. This will remain in effect through the rest of March and the month of April. At this point athletic games and matches are postponed through the end of March (possibly longer).  We will still hold sports practices and after school student clubs since these events only include our students.  Please note that this is subject to change as new information becomes available.

Important Change in Definition of “Compulsory School Age”

Effective for  2020-2021, all children from the age of six (6) through the age of eighteen (18) must comply with compulsory school attendance requirements. To meet these requirements, parents must ensure that their child between the ages of 6 and 18 is attending or participating in one of the following: a public elementary, middle, or high school; a public charter or cyber-charter school; a private licensed academic or private religious school; home tutoring by a certified teacher; or an approved program of home schooling. Children may be excused from compulsory attendance for documented medical or other compelling reasons as outlined in District attendance policy and procedures.
