Department of Energy

US Department of Energy – This interactive website promotes efficiency and alternative energy sources. Visit the site to search the database for technical, scientific, and policy information.

 

Fossil Energy

Office of Fossil Energy – This interactive website is part of the US Department of Energy. It offers information on its programs in areas such as coal and power, and future fuels. Visit this site for news, publications, statistics, and important links.

 

Renewable Fuels

Renewable and Alternative Fuels – This interactive website provides databases, publications, charts, and online documents from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Visit this site to research information on alternative fuels and energy consumption.
 
 
Biotechnology

Basic Student Research Site

This site is helpful for gathering information about biotechnology, genetics, prosthetics, and virtually any other subject.

 

Biotechnology Institute

The Biotechnology Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to research and education about the present and future impact of biotechnology.

 

Council for Biotechnology Information

Created as a comprehensive communication campaign about biotechnology, this site offers students objective and very informative facts about a variety of biotech avenues. Very interesting and reader-friendly!

 

DNA from the Beginning

"DNA from the Beginning" is organized around key concepts related to the Biotechnology module. The science addressed at this site relies on animation, image gallery, video, and other multimedia elements.

A site devoted to public genetics education.

 

Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

As you learned in this module, the FDA plays a vital role in the development and safe production of a variety of consumer products. This site highlights current information regarding food, drugs, medical devices, animal feed and drugs, vaccines, and more.

National Geophysical Data Center

Data Center – visit this site to access global environmental data from satellites and other sources. You can also find information on ecosystems, natural hazards, such as earthquakes, tornadoes, etc., and geology.

 

The Virtual Library of Ecology and Biodiversity

Virtual library – visit this site to access information on biomes or habitats, endangered species, pollution, and global sustainability, among many other topics.

 

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

EPA Student Center – This student site is filled with information and activities related to all the topics covered in this module including environmental clubs and careers.
