8th Gr. Drafting & Design Engineering
This class will build upon what students learned during 7th Grade, putting the Engineering Design techniques students learned into action using powerful 3D solid modeling software called SolidWorks to create three-dimensional models of a variety of objects. Students will also work to produce a number of products including a Desktop Published Logo Design, as well as solutions to Design Challenges. Some design challenges often assigned are the Eggciting Vehicle Design Challenge or Stormin' the Castle. These two activities challenge student to create solutions to problems using K'Nex based kits. Students will also likely complete some design challenges that I authored this past year for K'Nex Education in conjunction with the NASTAR Center which related to forces & motion as well as Aeronautics and Flight Training.
To parents, grandparents, and the curious... feel free to drop to see what goes on in the classroom. Just make sure you sign in at the main office or you can call me at the middle school and make arrangements to join us for some technological exploration!
Students will of course use the Engineering Design Process which you can see below when working to innovate and invent solutions to challenges.

This site has been in existence for about 10 years, and honestly it was time for an update. Some of the course related content is being updated at this time to reflect the newly revamp course curriculum and some parts of the site may take a little to get up and running. Thanks for your patience.

- STOP CyberBullying
- CyberBully Guide
- Make a Difference for Kids
- Cyberbully Research Center
Thanks also to Mrs. Baranowski's Technology Class from the Colonial Academy for suggesting a few of the resources above! Keep up the great work!
