- George Polya was born and educated in Hungary. He was boen in 1887 and obtained his PhD in mathematics from Budapest. Polya taught in Brown, Smith and Stanford Universities in the United States as well as in Switzerland. Throughout his life, he received a number of awards in mathematics. He also lectured in practically every country around the world. He was a advocate for mathematics and encouraged the use of problem solving techniques in order for individuals to learn mathematics.
