H1N1 Update and Information
Dear Parents and Guardians:
This past week, we have had an increase in the number of students absent due to illness in each of our schools. Some of these students, and a few staff members, have had flu-like symptoms. We understand that a few cases have been confirmed as the H1N1 flu. The Pennsylvania Department of Health continues to remind us of the importance of keeping children at home when they are sick to prevent the spread of disease. Children should stay home for at least 24 hours after a fever is gone (without fever reduction medication) before returning to school. We are continuing to reinforce good prevention techniques such as covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or sleeve, frequent thorough hand washing, and the use of hand sanitizer to prevent the spread of germs.
We have had some questions about the H1N1 vaccine. At this point, we are not sure when the vaccine will be available and whether we will be a distribution site. If we become a site for the vaccine, we will notify you of the details.
For further information please visit, www.h1n1inpa.com, www.flu.gov or www.cdc.gov. Thank you for your continued efforts to prevent the spread of disease.Sincerely,
Paul B. Eaken, Ed.D.
